The Rent Supplement Program (Government of Alberta) provides a subsidy to help make rental accommodation more affordable for individuals and families. MVSH administers only the long-term benefit program on behalf of the Government of Alberta.

This long-term benefit subsidizes rent for Albertans with low income. Eligible applicants are given priority based on need. Need is determined by a number of factors, including but not limited to income, assets, number of dependents and current housing condition.

The Rent Assistance Benefit Program, through Mountain View Seniors’ Housing, requires its applicants to reside within Mountain View County or Kneehill County.

Benefit features
  • paid directly to tenants
  • available through most housing management bodies across Alberta
  • amount is calculated based on household income and local market rent
  • households are prioritized based on need
  • may be renewed annually
  • no limit to annual benefit renewals if eligible
